Born in Tennessee, raised in Texas, Jim came to Utah 52 years ago to attend Brigham Young University. He met his future wife there and stayed.
He is a lifelong fly fisherman taught by his grandfather, who was also a lifelong fisherman. Jim caught his first rainbow trout on a dry fly he tied in 1953.
Jim promised his grandfather that he would pass along fly fishing to others. Throughout his life, he has kept that promise and continues to do so with this school. He especially wants to help parents and grandparents learn about fly fishing so they can pass it on to the younger generation.
